Samassin
Samassin are a Melbourne and NE Victoria based quintet, who perform, cinematic original music in a world fusion vein. They released their third album this year; the epic “Is All Not One?” Samassin’s music is rich with exotic melodies and grooves, each piece a vivid and emotion- charged journey. The sound is richly textured and played with passion and energy. Written by composer Kirsty Pittman and beautifully interpreted by the band who draw on jazz and folk expertise, these enigmatic compositions draw on influences of jazz, contemporary art music and inspiration from the Middle East, India, and West Africa. They have been delighting audiences with their energetic and mesmerising original music since 2014. Samassin play the intimate venues of the inner north. as well as theatres, house concerts and festivals. In 2015 they toured Turkey and Germany.
